Must Have Firefox Plugins
In this post, I will be discussing some of my favorite firefox/netscape add-ons that I have been using all throughout my online life. I judge them based on my experience and what I know about them, I’d like to share them because I would like you to have an excellent online experience, and these plugins, just seem to complete it.
First of all, I’d like to introduce to you firefox 3 Beta 4, the web browser that I am currently using. Yes, it’s a beta version, but still I’m using this as my default web browser, why? It has a lot to offer, I’m not using so many add-ons, just a couple of add-ons that enchance my online experience and aid me with my daily tasks, and luckily those add-ons I’m talking about are compatible with this version of firefox.
You must be wondering what this beta version has to offer, well, here are some features it includes:
More Personal
[Improved in Beta 4!] Location bar & auto-complete: type in all or part of the title, tag or address of a page to see a list of matches from your history and bookmarks; a new display makes it easier to scan through the matching results and find that page you’re looking for. Results are returned according to their frecency (a combination of frequency and recency of visits to that page) ensuring that you’re seeing the most relevant matches. An adaptive learning algorithm further tunes the results to your patterns! Read all notes here
Now let’s head to the main point of this post, the plugins that I’m talking about:
- Cookie Swap - enables you to easily swap all your cookies so that you can be logged in to multiple web e-mail accounts (like Gmail and Yahoo! mail) at the same time and quickly switch between them.
- Ad Block Plus - Ever been annoyed by all those ads and banners on the internet that often take longer to download than everything else on the page? Install Adblock Plus now and get rid of them.
- Download Status Bar - View and manage downloads from a tidy statusbar - without the download window getting in the way of your web browsing.
- Scribe Fire - is a full-featured blog editor that integrates with your browser and lets you easily post to your blog.
These are my 4 favorite plugins that I have installed on both my Firefox 2.0.0.13 and Firefox 3 Beta 4 =) Well, there are tons of other add-ons that you can make use of, but be reminded, to chose your add-ons wisely, as they may contain malware and other computer harming stuff, as long as you download it from the official site, these problems seem to occur less (or not at all), also be reminded that some add-ons may cause system problems and/or make your browsing speed less. ![]()
So far, having the listed add-ons above installed, I can verify that none of those cause any problem to the computer, internet speed, anything. Enjoy them and have fun
